About The Course

Guest Service Tips During Covid-19 Challenges

This online course was developed by the Oregon Hospitality Foundation in collaboration with hospitality industry partners to address specific Guest Service challenges related to the Pandemic.  It was created, in part, thanks to financial and in-kind support from our partners at Dutch Bros Coffee, epb&b insurance, FPW Media, SAIF, Travel Oregon, and Togather Restaurant Consultants.
There are two versions, one set in a restaurant and one set in a hotel. Both of these versions are available with Spanish subtitles. Each version offers a similar curriculum which highlights four scenarios that represent common challenges staff are experiencing when trying to balance service principles with safety protocols during the pandemic.

These scenarios are:

  • Communication – Guest-Friendly Safety Protocols Before and at Arrival
  • Credibility – Reassuring Guests Who Express Distrust of Your Property’s Safety Protocols
  • Compliance – Addressing a Guest Who is Not Following Safety Protocols
  • Creating Positive Experiences – Setting the Tone

The format for each of the four scenarios includes:

  • The introduction + each one of the four segments is less than 15 minutes and can be taken individually or all together;
  • Downloadable review worksheets for each scenario help you remember key points;
  • Pause and return to the course at any time;
  • Use from any computer or mobile device;
  • Certificate of Completion available when all segments are finished.

Included with online course access is a downloadable worksheet that reinforces takeaway points and can be utilized as course completion homework to be returned to a supervisor. Scenarios can be viewed by segment individually.
